There are many orthopaedic disorders ranging from arthritis or general wear and tear, to disability resulting from trauma or congenital conditions. There may be a need for surgery, for instance, total hip or knee replacement. And, of course, back injuries are not uncommon among the population.
Treatment in the NHS is excellent but there are often very long waiting lists as these problems occur frequently. People also need advice on coping mechanisms in order to take control of the pain and discomfort that they may be experiencing.
In addition to the long-term support of the personal nurse adviser, they may identify that their patient would benefit from a course of therapy. Our nurses use their expertise to assess which would be the most appropriate therapy for each patient, and arrange it very quickly, often getting people on the road to recovery much sooner.
